Society of Petroleum Engineers · Section 61
A community behindNigeria's energy industry.
SPE Lagos is an award-winning section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers: more than 5,600 engineers, geoscientists and students advancing the practice of the industry from Lagos, and part of a global network of over 140,000 members.
Section 61, serving the industry since 1973
For five decades the Lagos Section has been where Nigerian energy professionals meet to exchange what they know: reservoir and production practice, drilling and completions, geoscience, and the engineering behind a responsible energy transition.
That work happens through technical sessions and symposiums, discipline-focused study groups, mentorship and scholarships, and our flagship Energy Week. It is run by a volunteer board drawn from operators, service companies and the academy, practitioners giving their time back to the profession.
To collect, disseminate and exchange technical knowledge, and to give professionals the opportunity to grow into it.
